| | | | | | Jazz Alive at Pittsburgh - Tom McKinley Trio | | | Our Price: $9.95 | | | | Item Number: MMC2006J | | Audio Format: DDD | | Genre: Trio | | | | Description | | Tom McKinley has somehow managed to escape the labeling process most performers/composers are forced to undergo. McKinley is a continual source of frustration for media types. How does one deal with someone who is one of the most respected composers of his generation and yet manages to play jazz at the highest level?
McKinley could say "no" to such challenges as composing something for the late Stan Getz, or honoring a commission from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, or embarking on a tour with such distinguished colleagues as Rufus Reid and Billy Hart. He could say "no" to some of these challenges, thus allowing for safe approachability. But McKinley demands that we make an effort to inhabit his world.
