Born in Montreal, Canada, Ruth Lomon has received numerous awards and accolades for her compositions and has had a successful career as a concert pianist. Lomon’s formal studies began at McGill University where she made her debut as a solo pianist. She concertized from 1971 to 1983 with the two piano team of Lomon and Wenglin, performing works from the standard repertoire as well as works by women composers. Along with radio and television performances. Lomon has also given lecture recitals at a number of universities and composition symposiums in Europe, the United States, and Canada, and also served as vice president the national board of American Women Composers.
Ms. Lomon studied composition with Frances Judd Cooke and Miklos Schwalb at New England Conservatory, and with Witold Lutoslawski at Dartington College, England. She is presently a private composition teacher, and divides her time between New Mexico and Cambridge, Massachusetts. Her music is published by Arsis Press. |
