| | | | Since its foundation in 1975, the Moyzes Quartet (Stanislav Mucha and Frantis˙ek Török, violins; Alexander Lakatos˙, viola; Ján Slávik, cello) has become one of the most famous chamber ensembles in Slovakia. In addition to honing their skills with some of Vienna’s and Bratislava’s greatest ensemble directors, the ensemble has taken part in many international interpretation courses where it has collaborated with members of world famous quartets, including the Amadeus, Alban Berg, Smetana, and Janác˙ek quartets. During its existence the Moyzes Quartet has given more than a thousand concerts to enthusiastic acclaim throughout Europe, Morocco, India, Cuba, Japan and the United States. The ensemble boasts a wide repertoire from many periods, including pieces written for the group by Slovak composers. To date, the ensemble has recorded more than a dozen CDs for various labels, and has had its performances broadcast on numerous radio stations throughout Europe. |
